From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Emmett J. Scanlan (born 31st January 1979) is an Irish actor from Dublin. In 2008 and 2009, Scanlan appeared in the Justin Timberlake-produced MTV series The Phone, as"The Operator". He also featured in RT? Two's fly on-the-wall documentary series, Hollywood Trials. Scanlan's other roles include the films Colour from the Dark, Studs and Freakdog (2008).[citation needed] He also starred in Charlie Casanova where he played the lead role of Charlie. In 2010, Scanlan joined the cast of Hollyoaks, where he has been labelled the 'bad boy'. He plays Cheryl Brady's (Bronagh Waugh) older brother, Brendan Brady. He was nominated for an NTA award for his portrayal of Brendan. He also won the 2011 European Independent Film Festival award for Best Actor for his role as the title character in Charlie Casanova. At the 2011 British Soap Awards, Scanlan was nominated in the"Best Actor" category and"Best On-Screen Partnership" category (with Kieron Richardson). He won in"Villain of the Year" and"Best Newcomer" categories. At the 2011 Inside Soap Awards, he was nominated for"Best Actor" and won"Best Newcomer". He is to appear alongside Gillian Anderson and fellow Hollyoaks actors Bronagh Waugh and Karen Hassan in the BBC2 drama 'The Fall' in the autumn of 2012.
