Theseasonisalsonotableforthecontest,AnyoneCanHost.Duringthestartoftheseasontheshowadvertisedthecontestforanon-celebritytohosttheshow.[citationneeded]Thewinnerwas80year-oldgrandmotherMiskelSpillman,theonlynon-celebritytohostanSNLepisode.DuringSpillman'sshowthemusicalguest,ElvisCostello,haltedhisband,theAttractions,sevensecondsintothesong"LessThanZero",launchinginto"RadioRadio",anas-yetunreleasedsongcriticalofmainstreambroadcasting.ThechangeangeredLorneMichaels,whobannedfutureappearancesontheshowforawhile.
